The world has advanced significantly in adopting modern security and safety technologies. To connect Bangladesh with this global trend and to foster business networking between local cybersecurity entrepreneurs and international technology leaders, the International Security and Safety Expo 2025 has officially begun in Dhaka, a press release said.

The three-day exhibition was inaugurated on Thursday morning (September 18) at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), marking the first-ever edition of this international event in Bangladesh.

In a recorded video message, the Chief Guest, Fayez Ahmed Tayyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, delivered his address.

Highlighting the significance of the expo, he said, “The ‘International Security Expo 2025’ and the ‘International Occupational Safety, Health, and Fire Expo 2025’ mark a milestone for Bangladesh’s security sector. With over 50 organizations, more than 100 brands, and over 500 delegates, this event will enhance awareness and strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors.”

He further noted the importance of cybersecurity and electronic safety for both the economy and national security, adding: “The more we connect online, the greater the risk to personal data security. To address this, we enacted the Data Privacy Security Act in May this year, ensuring protection for all. This is a rapidly expanding sector, and we urge increased investment in it.”

Emphasizing the broader impact of such initiatives, he said, “This kind of international platform not only showcases technology but also fosters awareness, builds networks, and strengthens public-private partnerships. The government is committed to forging close partnerships with the global security industry to strengthen Bangladesh’s electronic and cyber safety. Building a safe and prosperous Bangladesh requires collective effort.”

A.K.M. Amirul Islam NDC, Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, stated, “With a population of over 170 million, the demand for security equipment and installation services in Bangladesh is naturally very high. The use of ATMs, RFID tags, and CCTV cameras is rapidly increasing. The government is prioritizing investment in Hi-Tech Parks by providing various incentives for both local and foreign investors. With modern facilities like high-speed internet, uninterrupted electricity, and integrated security, these parks have become ideal hubs for security technology installations.”

He invited global security and safety technology companies to invest in Bangladesh’s Hi-Tech Parks.

Muhammad Monirul Islam, Secretary General of Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS), welcomed participants and said, “Security today is a multidimensional issue that integrates cyber threats, physical security, and infrastructural safety. This expo brings government, businesses, and technology stakeholders together on one platform to promote innovation, practical solutions, and knowledge sharing. This experience will play a vital role in addressing future challenges. To sustain Bangladesh’s digital progress, parallel investments and policies are required not only for technological development but also for safeguarding that technology.”

Madhu Sudan Saha, Managing Director of I-Station Ltd, one of the organizers, said, “In today’s technology-driven era, security solutions are evolving rapidly, impacting businesses, industries, and personal lives alike. For local manufacturers, importers, suppliers, and cybersecurity entrepreneurs, engaging with global technologies is now essential. The ‘International Security and Safety Expo’ will serve as a vital platform to prepare Bangladesh’s security sector for future challenges.”

Md. Wahidul Hasan Dipu, Vice President of BCS, who presided over the event, added, “Since 1987, BCS has been a trusted guide in advancing Bangladesh’s IT sector. Our mission has always been to align technology with public interest. This expo takes that commitment one step further. BCS firmly believes that technology is not only a driver of development but, when used responsibly, can also be a catalyst for building a safe and sustainable Bangladesh.”

Other distinguished guests included Ms. Saki Rezwana, Chairperson of Oshi Foundation, and Lt. Colonel Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury, SGP, psc, Director (Operations & Maintenance), Fire Service and Civil Defence Directorate.

At the conclusion of speeches, the honorable guests officially inaugurated the three-day expo by cutting the ribbon and later visited the exhibition booths.

The event is jointly organized by I-Station Ltd (Bangladesh), Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS), and GPE Expo (FZE), Dubai, and will continue until Saturday, September 20.

The exhibition also includes the International Occupational Safety, Health, and Fire Expo (IOSHAFE), showcasing the latest safety and security technologies from around the world.
