In a landmark move to improve healthcare access across Bangladesh, SQUARE Group is set to launch “ChhappannoHazar Square Mile Jure” — a nationwide mobile healthcare initiative commemorating the birth centenary of its founder, Samson H. Chowdhury. The official ceremony will take place on September 25, his 100th birthday, at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Kakrail, Dhaka. The initiative will be officially inaugurated by Samson H. Chowdhury’s sons and daughter, Samuel S Chowdhury, Chairman; Ratna Patra, Vice Chairman; Tapan Chowdhury, Managing Director; Anjan Chowdhury, Director of SQUARE GROUP and family, a press release said.

This initiative is dedicated to delivering essential healthcare services across 56,000 square miles throughout Bangladesh, reaching remote and underserved communities through mobile clinics and telemedicine. Initially, promoting a healthy lifestyle, providing primary healthcare for the elderly, maternal and childcare services, basic diagnosis and treatment, and free medication for common diseases.

This will carry forward Chowdhury’s lifelong vision of accessible, equitable healthcare for all. With a name symbolizing the 56,000 square miles of Bangladesh, this initiative will reflect SQUARE’s commitment to reaching every corner of the nation with quality healthcare, continuing Chowdhury’s legacy of service, compassion, and innovation.

Managing Director of SQUARE Pharmaceuticals PLC, Tapan Chowdhury, said: “At SQUARE, we believe healthcare is a basic right, not a privilege. Through SQUARE Mobile Healthcare, we aim to bridge the gap in medical access by bringing doctors, essential medicines, and diagnostic services directly to people’s doorsteps. This initiative reflects our commitment to building a healthier nation by caring for the most vulnerable communities.”

He further emphasized that the Mobile Healthcare Service would work in close collaboration with local health authorities and community leaders to ensure effective service delivery and long-term sustainability. This is solely a voluntary non-profit move.

The inauguration is set to mark a new milestone in SQUARE’s mission of innovating healthcare delivery and supporting the Government’s efforts in strengthening the healthcare system across Bangladesh.

The initiative was announced on September 24, at a press briefing held at the ‘Samson Center’ in the capital. Senior officials from SQUARE family were present at the briefing.
