Narayanganj :Advocate Shariful Islam Molla, the 1st Joint General Secretary of the BNP’s Central Krishak Dal, has announced his intention to contest the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election from the Narayanganj-4 (Fatullah) constituency, seeking nomination under the BNP’s electoral symbol — the sheaf of paddy.
Molla, a long-time BNP activist who began his political career in the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), made the announcement at a press conference held at Fatullah Press Club on Saturday afternoon.
“I am a son of this soil. Fatullah is where I was born and raised, and my life is deeply connected to its people,” Molla said. “In the past, this constituency has often been represented by candidates from outside the area, leaving Fatullah neglected. If elected, I will work to change that and ensure real development for our community.”
He added, “This is the right time for the people of Fatullah to choose one of their own as their representative. I am made in Fatullah, made by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.”
Molla, who has been involved in BNP politics for nearly four decades, detailed his long-standing role within the party — from serving as General Secretary of the local Chhatra Dal in 1988 to becoming President of the Narayanganj District Krishak Dal and later a key member of its central committee.
If elected, Molla pledged to focus on resolving chronic waterlogging issues, combating drugs and crime, and driving local infrastructure development.
During the press conference, Molla also addressed recent internal party tensions, criticizing what he called “a vested quarter” that does not want strong local leadership to emerge in Fatullah. Referring to the expulsion of BNP leader Riyad Mohammad Chowdhury, he urged the central leadership to withdraw the decision and reinstate Chowdhury to his former position.
Among others present were Fatullah Thana Krishak Dal Convener Jewel Arman, Narayanganj District Krishak Dal Joint Convener Shahabuddin Molla, and several local leaders.
