BGMEA, BBCC sign pact to enhance Canada-Bangladesh trade

A significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Bangladesh Business Chamber of Canada (BBCC). The main objective of this MoU is to strengthen cooperation between the two organizations, strengthen business relations and create new opportunities for mutual business growth and development, a press release said.

Today, November 06, at a function at the BGMEA Complex in Uttara, the MoU was signed by President Mahmud Hasan Khan on behalf of BGMEA and President Alamgir M Rahman on behalf of BBCC. Present at the event were BGMEA 1st Vice President Salim Rahman, Senior Vice President Enamul Haque Khan, Vice President Md. Rezwan Salim, Vice President (Finance) Mizanur Rahman, Director Faisal Samad, Director Nafis-u-Daulah and Former Director Iqbal Hamid Qureshi Adnan.

Through this MoU, an institutional relationship has been established to provide mutual benefits to the members of BGMEA and BBCC. It will mainly ensure improved cooperation in the areas of trade, investment and knowledge exchange.

BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan said while signing the MoU, “The signing of this MoU with BBCC will be helpful in harnessing the potential of our industry in the Canadian and North American markets. Our goal is to further strengthen the economic relations between the two countries through improved trade, investment and knowledge exchange.”

Under this MoU, both parties have agreed to work together in the following areas:-

To establish close communication and facilitate networking opportunities and knowledge exchange between members of both organizations.

To jointly organize trade fairs, exhibitions and send business delegations to Canada and Bangladesh. At the same time, to assist in the promotion of Bangladeshi garment and textile products in Canada and North America.

To exchange knowledge, training and skills to enhance the capacity of entrepreneurs and professionals.

To create investment opportunities between Canada and Bangladesh in the garment, textile and related sectors and to encourage partnerships, joint ventures and cooperation between members. To share information, policies and research on international market trends for the benefit of members.

BGMEA is hopeful that this partnership will help take the business relationship between Bangladesh and Canada to a new height.
