In an effort to tackle the growing risks of cyber threats, Asia Centre, in collaboration with Google and Legalized Education Bangladesh, is organizing a Training of Trainers (ToT) session aimed at equipping local trainers to conduct Digital Security Training (DST) across the country. The ToT session took place on November 12, 2025, from 9:300 AM to 11:30 AM at the International Business Forum of Bangladesh (IBFB), a press release said.
The Digital Security Training (DST) initiative is a comprehensive program designed to enhance the digital literacy and cybersecurity resilience of high-risk and digitally vulnerable groups in Bangladesh and across the Asia-Pacific region. The program focuses on building awareness and equipping individuals with practical skills to protect themselves from the increasing number of online threats, including scams, ransomware, disinformation, and identity theft.
About the Training of Trainers (ToT) Session:
This ToT session will be an intensive workshop designed to train local experts who will then become certified Master Trainers. These trainers will be responsible for cascading digital security knowledge within their communities, ensuring that vulnerable groups such as human rights defenders, small businesses, and marginalized communities are equipped to navigate the digital world securely.
The ToT session will cover the following key areas: Understanding Digital Security Threats: Exploring the nature of cyberattacks such as phishing, malware, and data breaches. Practical Digital Safety Tools: In-depth training on using Google’s safety tools and other cybersecurity best practices.
Effective Training Techniques: Preparing trainers to deliver impactful and engaging DST sessions tailored to the needs of diverse audiences. Cyber Hygiene Practices: Practical tips on maintaining good security habits, including password management, identifying fake news, and protecting personal data online.
Participants of the ToT Program: The ToT session will involve a diverse group of local trainers who are expected to play a critical role in the wider distribution of digital security knowledge. Participants will include:
High-Risk Users: Human rights defenders, academics, journalists, micro-influencers, and CSOs who are vulnerable to cyberattacks due to their work. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and faith-based organizations at risk of cyber threats.
Digitally Vulnerable Groups: Elderly individuals, women, those who are at greater risk of online harassment or cybercrimes. Low-income individuals and people with disabilities who lack access to digital safety resources. Youth networks and students who are highly active online but may not be aware of the digital threats they face. Immediate Family & Friends of High-Risk Users: Individuals who will benefit from training on how to support vulnerable persons in their digital security efforts.
By involving these key participants, the ToT program ensures that digital safety knowledge is spread across a wide array of sectors, with a special focus on vulnerable and at-risk groups.
Collaboration Between Asia Centre, Google, and Legalized Education Bangladesh: This initiative is driven by a collaboration between Asia Centre, Google, and Legalized Education Bangladesh. Legalized Education Bangladesh, as the local partner, is instrumental in organizing and mobilizing the community, ensuring that the ToT session and subsequent DST workshops reach as many individuals as possible across Bangladesh.
With years of experience in digital education and community outreach, Legalized Education Bangladesh is uniquely positioned to connect with local communities and deliver this critical training. The organization’s extensive network, especially in educational and social justice sectors, makes them a key player in addressing the digital needs of Bangladesh’s most vulnerable populations.
The Impact of the Digital Security Training (DST) Program: The DST program spans 12 countries across South Asia, Southeast Asia, and East Asia, reaching out to high-risk individuals, SMEs, CSOs, students, and vulnerable groups.
By training local Master Trainers, the program aims to create a sustainable impact, empowering communities to protect themselves against digital threats and raise awareness about cyber hygiene.
Over the course of the initiative, Asia Centre and Google will provide ongoing support, resources, and tools to ensure that certified trainers can continue to educate and protect their communities even after the initial training sessions.
Key Objectives of the ToT: To equip local trainers with practical tools to deliver effective digital security training sessions. To raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and the use of Google’s online safety tools. To build a network of Master Trainers who will continue to spread digital security knowledge across the country.
Certification: At the end of the session, participants will be awarded a Master Trainer Certificate, officially recognizing their ability to conduct Digital Security Training sessions. These certified trainers will be able to further educate local communities and organizations, spreading essential knowledge and building digital resilience across the country.
