Md Jahidul Islam receives BCRA award

The Daily Sun journalist Md Jahidul Islam has received the ‘BCRA Award-2025’ for his contribution to entertainment and cultural journalism. On 8 November, world-renowned magician Jewel Aich presented him with this honourary crest. At that time, National Press Club President Hasan Hafiz and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Director General Rezauddin Stalin were present.
The recognition was given at the National Art Gallery Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Bangladesh Cultural Reporters Association (BCRA).
About the award, Md. Jahidul Islam said, “I express my gratitude to the organisation for the honour given to me by BCRA. This recognition is not just an award for me – it is an inspiration. The award given to me in recognition of my work will encourage me to be more responsible towards my work. I’m very happy and honored to receive this award.
Jahidul Islam, who was born in Jashore, started his journalism career in 2010 through the Bangla newspaper Dainik Samachar while studying at Dhaka University. Later, he worked as a Dhaka University reporter for the English daily Bangladesh Today. Jahidul is currently working as head of entertainment and Culture (Senior Sub-editor) at The Daily Sun, one of the country’s leading English dailies.
Throughout his career, Md Jahidul Islam has received a number of awards, including Bangladesh-Bharat (India)-Singapore (BaBhaSi) International Film Award, Sher-e-Bangla Golden Award, Bioscope Star Award, Excellence in Success Award 2025 and Mother Teresa Award 2025 for his contributions to journalism.
Md Jahidul Islam is the member of different organisation, including Bangladesh Federal Journalist Association and Bangladesh Cholochitro Sangbadik Samity. He is currently serves as the International Affairs Secretary of the Bangladesh Cultural Reporters’ Association (BCRA) and as Joint Secretary of the Greater Jashore Journalists’ Forum Dhaka. Md Jahidul Islam is currently serving as the International Affairs Secretary of the Bangladesh Cultural Reporters Association-BCRA and the Joint General Secretary of the Greater Jessore Journalists Forum, Dhaka.
