DHAKA : Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said there is no unrest in the country over the death penalty of Sheikh Hasina handed down by International Crime Tribunal (ICT).

The Home Adviser said this today while briefing journalists after a meeting on celebration of this year’s Victory Day at his office at Bangladesh Secretariat.

The home adviser said there is no security threat surrounding the national celebration of the Victory Day. However, the Victory Day parade will not be held this year, similar to the previous year.

“There is no unrest after the verdict against Sheikh Hasina. There will be no security apprehension around the Victory Day celebration,” he said.

The Home Adviser expressed optimism that people across the country would celebrate Victory Day in a festive mood.

In response to a question on whether the recent verdict against deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will led to change the V-day celebration, the home adviser said that no change would be made in the planned events.

“The programmes will remain unchanged. More programmes will be held this year,” he added.
