Passengers can now recharge their metro rail cards from the comfort of their home through bKash. This new feature eliminates the hassle of standing in line at stations or bank booths for card recharges, making the process easier, faster, and more cost-effective for both passengers and metro rail authorities, a press release said.

Currently, two types of cards are used in the metro rail system — Rapid Pass and MRT Pass. Under the new system, both types of cards can be recharged through bKash. Moreover, until December 31, 2025, customers will receive a 5% cashback on metro rail card recharges via bKash. The offer can be availed once per day and up to two times during the campaign period, with a maximum cashback of Tk 100.

To recharge a metro rail card, customers need to tap the Metro Rail icon in the suggestion box of the bKash app or directly visit the Rapid Pass website (www.rapidpass.com.bd) or app. If they don’t have an account for the Rapid Pass website, they just need to sign up by providing the required details. Once the account is created, they can easily link and register their card by entering its information.

Next, the customer needs to open the recharge option, pick the card they want to top up, select bKash as the payment method, and confirm. After completing the online recharge, they should tap the card on an Add Value Machine (AVM) at any station to update the balance. Once the process is successful, an SMS will be sent to the registered mobile number. Customers can recharge any amount between Tk 100 and Tk 5,000 in a single transaction.
