The National Livestock Week and Livestock Exhibition was inaugurated in Narayanganj Sadar on Wednesday (26 November), highlighting the theme “Improvement of Livestock Through Indigenous Breeds and Modern Technology.” The event was organized by the Sadar Upazila Livestock Office and Veterinary Hospital.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Raihan Kabir inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest at Tokkar Maath in Sheharchar, Fatulla, while Upazila Nirbahi Officer Taslima Shireen presided over the ceremony. Civil Surgeon Dr. Abul Fazal Muhammad Mushiur Rahman attended as the special guest.
Upazila Livestock Officer and Member-Secretary of the Exhibition Implementation Committee, Dr. Md. Yunus Ali, delivered the welcome speech.
The program was conducted by Livestock Extension Officer Mita Chakraborty.
Speakers at the event included District Livestock Officer Dr. A. Mannan Mia, Deputy Director of the District Duck Breeding Farm Agriculturist ABM Salahuddin Ahmed, District Veterinary Officer Dr. Md. Abu Syed, Senior Fisheries Officer Md. Asaduzzaman, Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Mahmuda Hasnat, and Veterinary Surgeon Dr. Md. Saymun Hossain.
The exhibition aims to increase livestock production, expand dairy product markets, strengthen small farmers and entrepreneurs, promote scientific animal husbandry practices, and introduce improved livestock and poultry breeds to the public. Ensuring safe and nutritious animal protein for consumers remains a key objective.
A total of 30 stalls showcased improved breeds of cattle, buffaloes, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, pet birds, and various livestock technologies.
Awards were distributed among winners in different categories, and certificates were handed out to all participating farmers.
