Huawei and ICT Division have jointly organized ‘Bangladesh TechConnect 2025’ in Dhaka today. With the guiding vision “Building a prosperous, innovative and inclusive Bangladesh through excellence in ICT”, the event brought together Government policymakers, industry leaders, regulators, development partners, academia, and innovators to explore Bangladesh’s digital transformation journey, a press release said.
Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Honorable Chief Adviser, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information, graced the event as the Chief Guest virtually. Around 300 guests from Government organizations, mobile operators, ICT firms, fintech companies, enterprises and academic institutions were also present at the event.

Following the welcome address delivered by Shish Haider Chowdhury ndc, Secretary, ICT Division, and the formal inauguration by the Chief Guest, the program demonstrated the transformative impacts of digital technologies — from AI and 5G to cloud, IoT, and fintech — on governance, business, and everyday life.
ICT Division’s TechConnect Initiatives were highlighted through a number of presentations at the event. Md. Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan, Additional Secretary, ICT Division, explained ICT Division’s strategic initiatives, while GSMA Asia Pacific Head Julian Gorman delivered a speech on ‘Bridging the Digital Divide: Asia Pacific Insights’. The session concluded with another presentation on ‘Empowering Enterprises through Digital Transformation’ by Md. Abu Sayed, Executive Director, Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC).
Shish Haider Chowdhury conducted a panel discussion on Industry Digitization afterwards. Top dignitaries from Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), Mobile network operators, Huawei shared their views on effective utilization of digital infrastructure and transformation in different industries in the session.
Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb said, “Bangladesh has started its digital transformation journey quite some time ago. But recently we have reiterated the steps and course of the journey. Our steps have already been reflected. With support from our partners, we want to empower people through digital services.”
Shish Haider Chowdhury, ndc, said, “Today’s ‘Bangladesh TechConnect 2025’ event has brought together industry leaders, policymakers, development partners, academia and innovators on one platform. In March 2025, Huawei and ICT Division signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration in innovation, capacity building and ICT ecosystem development. ‘Bangladesh TechConnect 2025’ embodied the objectives of this partnership, serving as a platform to enhance multi-stakeholder engagement across Government, industries, and development partners.
Over the past decade or so, ICT Division has also closely collaborated with Huawei to build the ICT infrastructure for Bangladesh’s digital transformation. By adopting the Huawei Cloud Stack solution, it established Bangladesh’s first government cloud, providing diversified government services to the Bangladeshi government.
ICT Division has been driving Bangladesh’s remarkable ICT progress, guiding the sector, shaping vital policies, and leading bold reforms over the years. It contributed to strengthening cybersecurity and enabling citizens to access over 100 digital services through platforms like MyGov.
As a leading technology partner, Huawei has played a pivotal role in building Bangladesh’s ICT landscape for the past 27 years, collaborating with government agencies, telecom operators, and enterprises.
