The 4th IEEE Conference on Biomedical Engineering, Computer and Information Technology for Health (BECITHCON) 2025 Conference was held very successfully at Eastern University’s own campus. All the activities of the first day of the conference were completed as scheduled, where the event was very lively and rich with the active participation of researchers, academicians, and students from different universities throughout the day, a press release said.
The opening ceremony was addressed as the chief guest by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University, Professor Dr. Farid Ahmed Sobhani. The Distinguished Professor of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of Eastern University, Dr. M. M. Shahidul Hasan, spoke as the guest of honor. Renowned educationists of the country, Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Dr. Shaikh A. Fattah and Dr. Muhammad Imamul Hasan Bhuiyan, all of whom are professors in the Department of EEE, BUET and hold various important positions in IEEE. The inaugural session was presided over by the Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee and Dean of the Faculty of Technology and Engineering, Eastern University, Professor Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman. The speakers highlighted the future directions of health technology and inspired young researchers to innovate.
Three international keynote speakers of this year’s conference delivered their speeches online. They are Dr. Md. Touhidul Islam, Assistant Professor, Department of Radiation Oncology (Medical Physics), Stanford University, USA, who highlighted the future directions of innovative and interpretable AI technology in high-dimensional data analysis in healthcare in a discussion titled “Next-Generation AI for High-Dimensional Biomedical Data: Towards Interpretable and Data-Efficient Discovery”; Dr. Roshan Joy Martis, Associate Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Manipal Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, India, discussed the application, challenges and prospects of modern technologies in biomedical signal processing in his talk titled “Intelligent Processing of Biomedical Signals: A Technological Perspective” and Dr. Ashir Ahmed, Associate Professor, Faculty of Information Science and Electrical Engineering, Kyushu University, Japan, presented his practical experience in increasing productivity through digital healthcare, portable health clinics, and AI-powered triage systems in his talk titled “Digital Transformation for Healthcare Productivity: Lessons from PHC, AI, and Global South Innovation”.
In the day-long parallel sessions, participants presented on biomedical engineering, smart health systems, use of artificial intelligence in healthcare, medical devices and emerging technology-based research. The atmosphere was very informative and positive with the active participation of researchers, teachers, professionals and students throughout the day.
After the opening ceremony, the co-located activities program of the International Industrial Activities Congress (INDCon) 2025 was held at Eastern University. Project showcases, quiz competitions, idea competitions, multiple educational and competitive activities, jointly organized by IEEE Eastern University Student Branch and IEEE Military Institution of Science and Technology (MIST), provided opportunities for students to learn, know, innovate and participate in something new. Approximately 90 students from about 25 universities participated in it, including live and online presence.
The first day of the conference concluded with constructive discussions, research presentations and collaborative exchange of views.
