Professor Abdur Rob Khan, Treasurer and Pro Vice-Chancellor (IC) of NSU, extended a warm welcome with an inaugural address. He said, “Victory Day is a great and proud occasion for our nation, which we observe with deep respect and joy. The history of the Liberation War teaches us not only courage, but also inspires us to move forward on the path of national development and progress.”

Speaking as the chief guest, Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed recalled memories of the Liberation War. He said, “Bangladesh’s independence does not belong to any single political group. The people did not take up arms at anyone’s call; instead, individuals from all walks of life joined the struggle out of patriotism and a desire to uphold justice.”

He further said, “Many of the goals we fought for during the war are yet to be achieved. However, the courage shown by our student community during the uprising of ’24 once again inspires us to remain positive about our country.”

Special guest Benazir Ahmed said, “16th December is a glorious day in the history of Bangladesh. After much struggle and sacrifice, we achieved independence on this day. It is our responsibility to present the true history of the Liberation War to the new generation, so that they may be inspired by patriotism and contribute to the nation-building process.”

Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury said, “At North South University, we have built an environment where students can learn not just knowledge and science, but also understand our culture and history. We aim to shape students into patriotic, caring, and responsible citizens who, wherever they go in the future, will honour Bangladesh and the spirit of the Liberation War, and play an active role in building our nation.”

Following the engaging discussion session, NSU SangskritikSangathan (NSUSS) presented a lively cultural program, adding an artistic flair to the commemoration.
