Bangladesh’s hilly regions continue to attract travelers, especially following the lockdown years when local tourism gained popularity. Scenic destinations like Sajek, Bandarban and Boga Lake have become favorites for those exploring the country’s natural beauty, a press release said.
Keokradong, the country’s highest motorable road, at 3,235 ft above sea level, reopened to visitors in October 2025 after being closed for several years. The mountain is known for its misty landscapes and challenging trails but accessing it has remained difficult. The roads leading to the peak are very steep, making them difficult to access for regular cars and bikes that aren’t built for such tough terrain.
Most tourists traditionally rely on Chander Garis, the open-roof jeeps widely used in the hills, as the terrains are too steep and rough for regular sedan cars to handle. While these vehicles are iconic, safety concerns have persisted and several accidents in the past have highlighted the dangers of traveling on these roads.
Recently, the JAC T9, a modern 4×4 from JAC Motors, was introduced in Bangladesh by Rancon Global Trucks Ltd, the official manufacturer and distributor of the brand. The vehicle successfully completed the challenging journey to Keokradong, proving its strength and reliability on rugged mountain roads. The journey, undertaken by the Rancon Global Trucks team and travel influencer The Outsider, involved two T9 pickups traveling from Dhaka to the peak and back. Videos of the expedition showed the vehicles handling steep climbs, muddy trails, and rocky paths with ease and control.
According to company information, the JAC T9 is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine delivering 168 Kw of power and 410 Nm torque. Its four-wheel drive provides enhanced grip on rough terrain, and it can carry over 1000 kilograms. The vehicle also features comfortable interiors with leather interior, a 10.4-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, and safety systems including ABS, EBD, and ESP. Customers can drive home a brand-new JAC T9 packed with cutting-edge features—all for just BDT 46.5 lakh!
Speaking on the achievement, Shawn Hakim, Managing Director, Rancon Global Trucks Ltd. said “At Rancon, we are committed to introducing world-class vehicles to Bangladesh. With the JAC T9 proving its power at Keokradong, we are confident it will handle even more challenging roads ahead. “
Observers said the successful journey demonstrates that with capable vehicles like the JAC T9, previously difficult destinations such as Keokradong are now more accessible to families and casual travelers. Many believe this could encourage more local tourism while improving safety on Bangladesh’s hill roads. The brand recently opened its flagship JAC showroom at Tejgaon for booking and test drive.
