Australia Alumni Association Bangladesh holds AGM, election

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025 of the Australia Alumni Association Bangladesh (AAAB) and the election of its Executive Committee for the 2026–2027 term was held on 27 December at the CIRDAP Auditorium in Dhaka, a press release said.

The election was conducted through direct voting by the members of the association. Md. Abu Nasar Uddin, Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Food, was elected President, while Engineer Asfia Sultana, Deputy Secretary at the Roads and Highways Division, was elected General Secretary. Mousumi Sarkar Rakhi, Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, was elected Treasurer.

The newly elected 11-member Executive Committee includes Dr Mohammad Khurshid Alam and S M Shahjahan as Vice Presidents, Hossain Mohammed Hye Joki was elected Joint General Secretary, Dr. K M A TAREQ assumed responsibility as Research and Publications Secretary, Md. Ashikur Rahman as Social Welfare and Networking Secretary, and Fatematuz Zohura Briti as Cultural Affairs Secretary. In addition, Mohammad Quamruzzaman and Sajal Kanti Ghosh were elected as Executive Committee Members.

Australia Alumni Association Bangladesh (AAAB) is an organization of government and private sector professionals who pursued higher education in Australia under various Australian Government scholarship programs and subsequently returned to Bangladesh. The association regularly conducts knowledge-sharing initiatives, professional development activities, and social welfare programs. Currently, the organization has more than 600 members.
