DIU welcomes 2,500 freshmen for spring 2026

Daffodil International University (DIU) organized the orientation program for newly admitted students of the Spring 2026 semester today at its Daffodil Smart City (DSC) campus in Ashulia. The program was attended by around 2,500 new students and formally marked the beginning of their academic journey at the university, a press release said.

The program was graced by the presence of Md. Shakhawat Hossain, CSCM, MCIPS, CPLM, Chief Executive Officer of the Threads & Accessories Division of DBL Group, as the Special Guest. As part of the university leadership segment, the ceremony handover was conducted by Professor Dr. M. R. Kabir, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University.

Also present at the program were Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Honorable Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University, and Mohammad Manjurul Haque Khan, Advisor, Office of the Students’ Affairs.

A key highlight of the orientation program was the experience-sharing session with successful alumni. The session featured Md. Musabbir Hosain, Managing Director of NapTech Labs Ltd. (Alumnus, Department of CSE); Farjana Kabir Bithi, Manager at Pran-RFL Group (Alumna, Department of Pharmacy); Md. Ziaur Rahman Chowdhury, Staff Correspondent at The Business Standard and Chevening and GIJN Fellow 2025 (Alumnus, Department of JMC); Engr. Sheikh Mohammad Mostafa, CEO and Researcher at Solar Man Bangladesh (Alumnus, Department of EEE); and Md. Sazzat Ullah, Assistant Manager at The Westin Dhaka. The alumni shared real-world insights on career development, professional challenges, and personal growth with the new students.

The program began with a warm reception for the new students, who were welcomed with flowers and souvenir gifts. Students were also recognized and awarded for their outstanding achievements in academic and co-curricular activities across different departments. In addition, prizes were distributed among the winners of the annual sports competitions held on January 7, which included events such as archery, dart board, basketball, and golf.

Session announcements throughout the program were conducted by Ms. Fahmi Hasan.

In their speeches, the guests and university leaders encouraged the new students to make effective use of the modern facilities, technology, and learning environment of Daffodil Smart City to develop professional skills and prepare for future careers. The program concluded with a cultural performance presented by teachers and students, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere.

University authorities expressed confidence that the orientation program would help new students adapt smoothly to university life and guide them toward achieving their academic and professional goals.
