North South University (NSU) achieved national top positions in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2026, in several disciplines, a press release said.
In Business and Economics, NSU has been placed in the 501–600 band globally and stands jointly #1 (First) in Bangladesh with Dhaka University. The University has been ranked 401–500 in Medical and Health, and jointly shares the second position nationally.
NSU also features in Computer Science within the 801–1000 range, while in Engineering it has been placed in the 601–800 band, jointly standing as the top-ranked private university in the country. In Social Sciences, NSU secured a place in the 501–600 band and achieved the distinction of being the highest-ranked university in Bangladesh in this subject group.
Overall, NSU ranked jointly first nationally in Business and Economics, first in Social Sciences, jointly second in Medical and Health Sciences, and first among private universities in Engineering in the THE Subject Rankings 2026.
Reacting to the results, Professor Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of North South University, remarked, “This performance in the Times Higher Education Subject Rankings reflects the sustained efforts of our academic community to strengthen teaching, expand impactful research, and enhance our international engagement. I acknowledge the dedication of our faculty, students, staff, and alumni, as well as the strategic guidance of the NSU Board of Trustees. We are also grateful to the Ministry of Education, the University Grants Commission, and other regulatory bodies for their continued support. These outcomes encourage us to further elevate NSU’s contribution to higher education and national development.”
