Eastern University organized the Freshers’ Reception for Spring 2026 semester students at its permanent campus in Dhaka. On this occasion, the newly admitted students were warmly welcomed to the Eastern University family, a press release said.
The program was presided over by the Honorable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, Professor Dr. Farid Ahmed Sobhani. The Chief Guest was the Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan. Special Guests included Dr. Badrul Huda Khan, Founder of Modern E-Learning and former Professor at George Washington University, USA, and Barrister Safayet Mohammad Raju, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Eastern University.
As an Honorable Guest, Advocate Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, an alumnus of Eastern University and Additional Public Prosecutor of the Special Tribunal, Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court, also addressed the program.
In their speeches, the speakers urged students to become attentive, ethical, and professionally competent citizens. They also emphasized the importance of higher education in creating leadership for society.
During the program, the new students were introduced to the university’s academic structure, various services, club activities, and campus life. The event concluded with an enjoyable cultural performance presented by the students.
Among others who spoke at the event were Treasurer Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, Registrar Dr. Abul Bashar Khan, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology Professor Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean of the School of Law A.B.M. Imdadul Haque Khan, Dean of the School of Business Administration Professor Brigadier General Dr. A.K.M. Iqbal Azim, ndc, psc, G+ (Retd.), Dean of the School of Arts Dr. Shafia Akhter, and Advisor of the Faculty of Life Sciences Professor Dr. Firoz Ahmed. They expressed their sincere gratitude to all guests, faculty members, officials, and students, and extended their best wishes for a successful academic life to the newly admitted students.
