With the aim of introducing students to the country’s heritage, culture, and rural traditions, GPH International School regularly organizes various co-curricular activities. As part of this ongoing initiative, the traditional Pitha Festival was arranged to highlight Bangladesh’s rich wintertime culinary heritage.

The main objective of the festival was to familiarize students with a wide variety of traditional and decorative pithas from different regions of Bangladesh through exhibitions, while fostering an appreciation for indigenous culture and traditions. The presence of students, teachers, parents, and guests made the school campus vibrant and festive.

The event featured lively performances by students, including dance, songs, and poetry recitations, creating a joyful atmosphere throughout the program. The enthusiastic participation of the young students added color and excitement, spreading festive cheer among parents, teachers, and staff members.

While inaugurating the festival, the Principal of GPH International School, Brigadier General (Retd.) Khandaker Farhad Hossain, said, “Inviting relatives and neighbors to enjoy pitha during the winter season is an integral part of our rural culture and heritage. The tradition of serving pitha during family gatherings and especially in welcoming sons-in-law is deeply rooted in Bangladeshi society. Pithas prepared by mothers, sisters, and sisters-in-law are not only sweet in taste but also filled with warmth and affection, which strengthens family bonds and brings joy to our lives.”

He further added, “This Pitha Festival has been organized to introduce our young students to this rich cultural tradition.”

He also expressed his sincere gratitude to the parents for their active and spontaneous participation and shared his hope to continue organizing such competitions and festivals regularly in accordance with the academic calendar.
