North South University (NSU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jamuna Television to promote academic engagement and professional collaboration in the field of journalism. The MoU signing ceremony was held today at the NSU campus, marking a significant step toward strengthening ties between academia and the media industry, a press release said.
The delegation from Jamuna TV was led by Fahim Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and included Towhidul Islam, Chief News Editor (CNE), Alamgir Swapan, Political Editor, and other senior representatives of the channel.
Representing North South University were Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor, NSU; Professor Nasar Ahmed, Pro Vice Chancellor; Professor Abdur Rob Khan, Treasurer; Dr. Md. Rizwanul Islam, Professor of Law and Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences; Dr. Rizwan Khair,Associate Professor & Chair, Department of Political Science and Sociology (PSS); and Dr. S.M. Rezwan Ul Alam, Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Media, Communication, and Journalism (DMCJ), among other faculty members and officials.
The MoU establishes a structured framework for collaboration, under which Jamuna Television will provide internship opportunities each academic cycle to undergraduate students from NSU’s Department of Media, Communication, and Journalism (MCJ). These internships will offer hands-on professional exposure across key areas such as newsroom operations, media production, broadcasting, and development communication, bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world industry practices.
Speaking at the event, Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of NSU, said, “Jamuna TV is a leading and credible name in Bangladesh’s journalism landscape. North South University is committed to developing meaningful academic collaboration with responsible media institutions like Jamuna TV.”
The MoU reflects NSU’s continued efforts to strengthen industry-academia linkages and Jamuna TV’s commitment to supporting education and capacity-building in journalism.
