North South University (NSU) organized the Grand Finale of its Indoor Badminton Tournament on Sunday evening, February 08, 2026, at the NSU Indoor Ground. The week-long tournament was organized to strengthen relationships and promote teamwork among the university’s senior leadership, faculty members, officers, employees, and students, a press release said.
The final event was attended by the Chairman, Board of Trustees of North South University Aziz Al Kaiser, along with M. A. Kashem, Member & Former Chairman; Benajir Ahmed, Member & Former Chairman; Mohammed Shajahan, Member & Former Chairman; Yasmin Kamal, Member; Rehana Rahman, Member; and Fawzia Naaz, Member, Board of Trustees, North South University.
A special attraction of the evening was the friendly match between the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Aziz Al Kaiser, and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, which was warmly enjoyed by the audience.
Speaking at the event, Aziz Al Kaiser said, “This tournament is an effort to build stronger relationships within the NSU community and inspire everyone to stay active and healthy. A university is not only a place for academic learning; it is also a space where mutual respect, teamwork, and a sense of belonging are developed. Events like this create opportunities for meaningful interaction beyond classrooms and offices, helping to build a more united and supportive environment for all. I am truly encouraged to see such enthusiastic participation, which reflects the strong spirit of the NSU family.”
Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury remarked, “It is wonderful to see such enthusiastic participation from across the university, as it demonstrates our shared commitment to holistic development. Engaging in sports helps reduce stress, promotes physical and mental well-being, and strengthens the bonds among colleagues and students. These initiatives play an important role in creating a more vibrant, inclusive, and dynamic campus life.”
Organized by the North South University Games and Sports Club, the tournament took place from February 01 to February 08 and featured enthusiastic participation from different groups within the university. Throughout the week, players demonstrated skill, determination, and sportsmanship.
In the Students (Male) category, Team CSC Pro became champions with Md Azowad Islam and Tanvir Hasan Prince, while Team BBT Smashers secured the runner-up position with Mahmud Hasan and Md. Asadullah Al Nahiann. In the Students (Female) category, Team BBA Bubble Trouble won the championship through Akeek Sana Tariq and Raisa Mujib, while Team Pharma-Elixir-2 finished as runner-up with Robaiya Rashid Pithi and Mst. Ummay Tanassum.
In the Faculty and Officer (Male) category, Team Smash Master emerged as champions with Md Akteruzzaman and Md Takbir Alam, whereas Team AKHN became runner-up with Dr. Akram Hossian and Dr. Bulbul Siddiqi. In the Faculty and Officer (Female) category, Team Shuttle Hustle claimed the title through Professor Nazlee Siddiqui and Humaira Haque, and Team Falcon Queen secured the runner-up position with Shymun Nahar Shupta and Sarina Sultana.
Among the Club Executives, Team NSU SC won the championship with Md Sayedul Karim Sikder and Shimanto Majumder, while Team NSU MBAC became runner-up with Hasibul Hoque and Manas Banik. In the University Leadership Category, Team Board Chairman’s Office took the championship with Aziz Al Kaiser and Jahidul Islam, while Team Vice Chancellor’s Office finished as runner-up with Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury and Ruman Sarwar.
Participants and guests appreciated the initiative, saying it provided a welcome break from daily routines and created opportunities for meaningful interaction.
