Customers of 20 regional offices under the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB), the country’s largest electricity distribution authority, can now pay their electricity bills through Nagad. With this expansion, customers of 29 Palli Bidyut Samities (PBSs) across 24 districts will be able to settle their electricity bills using the Nagad platform, a press release said.
Following the inclusion of these new cooperatives, more than half of the country’s rural electricity customers will have access to bill payment services via Nagad. Customers can access the service through the Nagad app by selecting the “Bill Pay” tab, choosing the “Electricity” option, and then selecting “Palli Bidyut Postpaid” to complete the transaction.
Customers of 20 Palli Bidyut Samities (PBSs) under the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board can now pay their postpaid electricity bills through the Nagad wallet.
The newly added samities are—Feni Palli Bidyut Samity, Cumilla Palli Bidyut Samity-1, Cumilla Palli Bidyut Samity-2, Cumilla Palli Bidyut Samity-4, Brahmanbaria Palli Bidyut Samity, Kushtia Palli Bidyut Samity, Jhenaidah Palli Bidyut Samity, Faridpur Palli Bidyut Samity, Barishal Palli Bidyut Samity-2, Bhola Palli Bidyut Samity, Dhaka Palli Bidyut Samity-1, Dhaka Palli Bidyut Samity-3, Dhaka Palli Bidyut Samity-4, Narayanganj Palli Bidyut Samity-1, Gazipur Palli Bidyut Samity-1, Mymensingh Palli Bidyut Samity-1, Sunamganj Palli Bidyut Samity, Jashore Palli Bidyut Samity-1, Jhalakathi Palli Bidyut Samity, and Cox’s Bazar Palli Bidyut Samity.
Earlier, customers of Netrokona Palli Bidyut Samity, Pabna Palli Bidyut Samity-1, Rajbari Palli Bidyut Samity, Rajshahi Palli Bidyut Samity, Rangpur Palli Bidyut Samity-1, Sunamganj Palli Bidyut Samity, Sylhet Palli Bidyut Samity-1, Sylhet Palli Bidyut Samity-2, and Tangail Palli Bidyut Samity had already been paying their electricity bills through Nagad.
Approximately 80 percent of Bangladesh’s electricity consumers are served under BREB, while Nagad has more than 80 million customers nationwide. The two institutions have been working together since signing an agreement in 2023 to enhance customer convenience. With the latest addition, customers of the newly enlisted cooperatives can now enjoy instant rural electricity bill payment services through Nagad.
