Leaders of the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) met with new Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher Suman to discuss various problems and prospects of the country’s housing sector. A delegation led by REHAB President Md. Wahiduzzaman participated in the courtesy call held at the ministry, a press release said.
The delegation included REHAB Senior Vice President Liaquat Ali Bhuiyan, Vice President (First) Lion M. M. Awal (former MP) and Vice President Eng. Abdul Latif. Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Md. Nazrul Islam and senior officials of the ministry and REHAB were also present in the meeting.
During the meeting, various ongoing problems in the housing sector, especially the reduction in the number of units in housing projects due to the implementation of the Detailed Area Plan (DAP), were highlighted. REHAB leaders said that due to some restrictions of DAP, the number of flats in new projects is decreasing significantly, which may have a negative impact on the housing sector.
At this time, Minister Zakaria Taher Suman listened carefully to the problems and prospects of the housing sector and requested REHAB leaders to submit detailed written proposals on the issues.
REHAB President Md. Wahiduzzaman said that REHAB will quickly prepare a detailed written proposal to develop the housing sector and solve existing problems and submit it to the ministry.
REHAB leaders expressed hope that through coordination with the government, the existing problems in the housing sector will be effectively resolved and the country’s housing sector will become more dynamic.
