At Daffodil International School, Baburhat in Chandpur, Daffodil Foundation organized a vibrant Scholarship Get-Together and Reunion with its scholarship recipients and alumni. Over the past 16 years, this zakat-based initiative has supported 279 students across 16 batches. Currently, 90 students are receiving support, and among the 189 successful alumni, 102 are already established in their respective professions. With an investment of approximately BDT 18.5 million, this program is widely regarded as a model for sustainable human resource development in the country, a press release said.
The day-long event, held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, began at 9:00 AM and featured Qur’an recitation, speeches, student competitions, motivational sessions, award distribution, and open discussions. The program highlighted achievements, experiences, and future prospects from the past 16 years, creating a lively and inspiring atmosphere with the participation of students, alumni, teachers, guardians, and distinguished guests. The Chairman of Daffodil Group, Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, attended as the chief guest and delivered a keynote speech.
In his address, he encouraged young people to develop themselves through a growth mindset and career-oriented education, emphasizing that such skills are essential for nation-building. He also stressed that setting clear goals is crucial for success, and consistent hard work is what ultimately leads individuals to achieve those goals.
Highlighting various aspects of the zakat-based scholarship program, he noted that since its inception in 2010, the initiative has supported 279 students in 16 batches. Currently, 90 students are under this scholarship program, while 189 have successfully completed it and are now part of the alumni network. The 17th batch, consisting of around 40 students, is expected to begin soon.
He further mentioned that 102 alumni are now contributing to the country’s economy through various professions. Among them, 24 are employed in government positions, 40 in private organizations, 6 are entrepreneurs creating employment opportunities, and 8 are either working or pursuing higher education abroad.
Daffodil Foundation stated that this initiative goes beyond financial assistance and functions as an effective human resource development model. So far, approximately BDT 18.5 million has been invested in the project, along with an additional BDT 716,000 provided as supplementary support.
In addition to academic education, students receive leadership development training, entrepreneurship programs, and soft skills development, enabling them to grow into skilled, self-reliant, and capable leaders.
Moreover, the entire scholarship program is managed through a digital automation system, which includes online applications, examinations, interviews, data management, and alumni verification processes.
Before the chief guest’s speech, a presentation showcased the 16-year journey and achievements of Daffodil Foundation. He later engaged with students by answering their questions and distributed prizes among the winners of various competitions.
Daffodil Foundation also announced its plans to expand this initiative further, aiming to reach thousands of talented students across different regions of the country and contribute to building a skilled, self-reliant, and developed Bangladesh.
Journalists, distinguished guests, and officials from relevant institutions were also present at the event.
