The Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University, Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, is currently in Kimberley, South Africa, as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Accounting and Economics, Faculty of Economics and Management Science, Sol Plaatje University (SPU). This prestigious appointment is a global recognition of Professor Sobhani’s academic excellence, research excellence, visionary leadership and unique contribution to higher education, a press release said.
During his visit, he will deliver specialized seminars and public lectures, and will interact with faculty and students on academic and research-related issues. He will also work to create new areas of cooperation between Sol Plakki University and Eastern University.
He left Dhaka for South Africa on March 24 and will be on leave until April 18, 2026. In his absence, the university’s treasurer, Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, will serve as the acting vice-chancellor.
