Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hussain inaugurated a new outpatient treatment unit at Bangladesh Shishu Hospital & Institute constructed by country’s leading manufacturer and exporter of medicine Beximco Pharmaceuticals PLC, a press release said.
A brief ceremony was held at the hospital premises on this occasion on Thursday (2 April), Which was attended by the director general of health services Professor Dr. Pravath Chandra Biswas, chairman of the board of Bangladesh Shishu Hospital Professor Dr. AKM Azizul Hoque, director of Bangladesh Shishu Hospital Professor Dr. Mahbubul Haque, executive director of ICDDR,B Professor Dr. Tahmeed Ahmed and other high officials from the government and Beximco Pharma.
The new outpatient unit will largely improve access to treatment and better serve the underprivileged patients.
Professor Dr. AKM Azizul Hoque, chairman of the board of Bangladesh Shishu Hospital expressed deep appreciation for the Beximco Pharma’s CSR initiative highlighting the immense role of private sector in strengthening healthcare infrastructure and expanding service capabilities.
Beximco Pharma chief operating officer Rabbur Reza stated, “As a responsible organization, we remain committed to improving access to healthcare, and these initiatives, as a part of our CSR commitment, aim at addressing public health needs, especially during any national crisis.”
The Company has also handed over 3 ventilators to the Ministry of Health in the wake of a measles outbreak in the country that is triggering serious public health concerns with a sharp rise in number of infections among children and dozens of deaths reported in recent weeks.
