Guardian Life Insurance Limited (Guardian) has recently signed an agreement with UCB Fintech Company Limited (Upay) to introduce an affordable and accessible insurance and healthcare solution for Upay customers. The initiative focuses on ready-made garments (RMG) workers, along with agents, DSOs, and distributors across the Upay ecosystem, many of whom have limited access to formal financial protection services, a press release said.

The agreement was formalized by Sheikh Rakibul Karim, FCA, Chief Executive Officer of Guardian Life Insurance Limited, and Sajjad Alam, Head of Corporate Sales at Upay. The partnership marks a new step in Guardian’s efforts to expand inclusive insurance coverage across Bangladesh.

As part of this collaboration, Guardian will provide a bundled protection package that includes life, disability, and health insurance coverage. Customers will also have access to essential healthcare services such as 24-hour tele-doctor consultations, hospital discounts, and accidental hospitalization benefits. The solution has been developed to be simple and easily accessible through Upay’s digital platform.

Sharing his perspective on the partnership and its broader vision, Sheikh Rakibul Karim said, “Our goal at Guardian is to bring insurance closer to the realities of everyday life. For millions of hardworking individuals, especially in sectors like ready-made garments, financial protection is a necessity. This partnership with Upay allows us to reach people more effectively and offer solutions that are practical, affordable, and relevant to their daily challenges.”

Among those present at the ceremony from Guardian were Abdul Halim, EVP & Head of Micro Insurance, Digital Channel and ADC; Md. Naushadul Karim Chowdhury, Vice President; Md. Shahariar Jamil Abir, Business Development Manager; and Al-Amin, Deputy Manager.

Representing Upay at the event were Md. Nuruzzaman Tuhin, General Manager, Corporate Sales; Avhijeet Goup Topu, Key Account Manager; and Imran Hassan Rimon, Key Account Manager, Merchant Business.

This collaboration reflects Guardian’s continued focus on leveraging partnerships and digital platforms to expand access to insurance. By integrating protection with everyday financial services, the company aims to offer practical and affordable solutions that support working individuals and their families. This approach also contributes to building a safer, healthier, and more financially secure workforce that supports the country’s economic and digital progress.
