NSU hosts launch of Bangladeshi alumni association of China (Yunnan)

North South University (NSU) has hosted the launching ceremony of the Association of Bangladeshi Alumni of China (Yunnan) at Audi-801. This program brings together diplomats, academics, policymakers, and alumni members in a significant initiative to strengthen Bangladesh–China academic and cultural engagement.

The program was jointly hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Yunnan Provincial People’s Government, the Department of Education of Yunnan Province, and Yunnan University, in collaboration with NSU. The program was conducted under the guidance of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bangladesh and organized by the Confucius Institute at NSU.

Distinguished guests present at the program included H.E. Yao Wen, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Bangladesh; Ma Zuoxin, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Province; He Yongwen, Vice President of Kunming Medical University; Ma Wenhui, President of Yunnan University; Benajir Ahmed, Member of the Board of Trustees, NSU; Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of NSU; Professor Nasar U. Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor of NSU. The program was presided over by Professor Bulbul Ashraf Siddiqi, Director of the Confucius Institute at NSU, and Ma Xiaoyan, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at NSU.

In his speech, Yao Wen said, “China and Bangladesh are close friends, and our traditional friendship continues to grow stronger. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, our relations are reaching new heights. The Government of Bangladesh has made significant progress in advancing education reform, improving educational quality, developing vocational education, and fostering youth innovation. China highly appreciates these efforts and stands ready to strengthen policy coordination, enhance cooperation in education and skills training, and jointly promote youth employment.”

Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury said, “Bangladesh and China share a long history of friendship, not only in diplomacy, but also in business, trade, and cultural exchange. This alumni association will serve as a valuable platform to share knowledge and experiences, and to further strengthen academic and people-to-people connections between our nations.”

Alumni representatives shared their experiences of studying in China and acknowledged NSU’s role in supporting international exposure and academic excellence. They expressed their commitment to contributing to national development by leveraging their global knowledge and professional expertise.
