Developers Forum Uttara (DFU) organised a grand function to felicitate and felicitate the newly elected board of directors of REHAB. Prominent businessmen, entrepreneurs, REHAB leaders and dignitaries from various walks of life were present at the function held at Uttara Club in the capital on Saturday evening at 7 pm.
Member of Parliament (Dhaka-18) SM Jahangir Hossain was present as the chief guest at the function. Ibrahim Sarkar, President of Developers Forum Uttara presided over the function.
In his speech as the chief guest, SM Jahangir Hossain said that the housing sector is playing a very important role in the country’s economy, employment and urbanization. He said, “The housing sector is not limited to building construction alone, but is directly and indirectly related to more than 200 industries in the country. To sustain this sector, it is essential to take practical steps in policy support, easy bank loans and tax structure.” He also said that the government and private sectors must work together to ensure housing for the middle and lower middle class people. At the same time, he called for adopting a tolerant policy for honest businessmen and regular taxpayers.
In his speech as the president, Mr. Ibrahim Sarkar said that the housing sector is currently going through various challenges. Due to high land prices, increasing prices of construction materials, complexities of bank loans and various policy constraints, businessmen are going through a difficult time. He called on the newly elected REHAB leaders to work together to protect the interests of the sector.
In his speech, the newly elected President of REHAB, Dr. Ali Afzal, pledged to work to make the housing sector more dynamic and people-friendly. He said that coordination between the government, policymakers and businessmen will be strengthened to solve the existing problems surrounding the housing sector. At the same time, he said that REHAB will also work to ensure affordable housing for the common people.
Speaking at the event, REHAB Senior Vice President Abdur Razzak said that the importance of the housing sector is immense in the country’s sustainable urbanization, planned housing system and creating an investment-friendly environment. Therefore, long-term and realistic policies need to be formulated to advance this sector.
DFU General Secretary Mohammad Mobarak Hossain, program convener Jasim Uddin and member secretary Shafiqul Islam Badal spoke at the event. They spoke about working together for the development of the housing sector.
At the end of the event, floral greetings and honorary mementos were presented to the newly elected REHAB board members. Later, a dinner was organized in honor of the guests.
