DHAKA : Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon today said education is the highest priority of the present government.
“The government has been working relentlessly to develop the country’s education system to international standards and build skilled, moral and patriotic human resources,” he said while addressing as chief guest the agreement signing ceremony of the “On-Grid Opex Model Solar System Project” at Residential Model College in the capital.
Milon, also minister of Primary and Mass Education, said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is giving the highest importance to education. “His first priority is education, second priority is education and third priority is also education,” he mentioned.
The minister said the main foundation of a country’s development is education, adding that no nation can ever reach the peak of progress without education.
He said many countries in the world could not become developed despite having huge natural resources, while some countries are leading the world through education and skilled human resources despite having limited resources.
“So, Bangladesh’s huge manpower must be transformed into productive human resources through proper education and training,” he said.
Addressing the students, he said alongside studies they must uphold patriotism, morality and religious and family values.
“No nation can move forward without values. The real education of a person begins from the family,” he added.
The minister said the SSC and higher secondary stages are the most important phases in students’ lives. They have to establish themselves through perseverance and hard work by properly utilising this period.
“The biggest investment of a guardian is the education of his or her child. Therefore, students must be responsible towards their family and the country,” he said.
Mentioning that the government is working to expand modern education systems, improved infrastructure and technology-based education for students, he said, “The state is trying to ensure whatever is necessary for students and in return students must devote themselves to the welfare of the country and the nation.”
Chaired by Education Ministry Secretary Abdul Khalek, the event was attended, among others, by Residential Model College Principal Brigadier General Mohammad Jaber Hossain, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Director General Professor Dr Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel and Omera Renewable Energy CEO Masudur Rahim.
