A day-long training workshop organized by BRAC Fisheries Enterprise was held in Araihazar Upazila of Narayanganj with the aim of increasing fish production and enhancing the skills of local fish farmers.
The special training program was arranged to bring significant improvements to the fisheries sector of Narayanganj district, increase production, and develop farmers into more efficient and knowledgeable entrepreneurs.
The workshop took place on Wednesday (May 13) at Swapneel Party Center in Maruyadi, Araihazar, and was organized by BRAC Fisheries Enterprise.
Around 50 progressive fish farmers from different areas of Araihazar participated in the workshop to gain practical knowledge about modern fish farming technologies and advanced aquaculture management systems. Detailed discussions were held on profitable fish farming methods and modern cultivation techniques.
Key topics discussed during the training included:
Scientific pond preparation methods and water quality management
Proper use of probiotics, aerators, and technology-based water management systems
Selection of quality fish fry and balanced feed distribution techniques
Prevention and modern treatment methods for common fish diseases
The workshop was chaired by Md. Saifullah, Regional Manager of BRAC Fisheries Enterprise. Important training sessions were conducted by agriculturists Sadman Sakib and Md. Maruful Hasan. Overall supervision was carried out by BRAC District Coordinator of Narayanganj, Suman Chowdhury, while the event was hosted by BRAC Sales Officer Md. Sikandar.
Alongside theoretical discussions, the farmers also had opportunities for hands-on learning. Through open discussions and quiz competitions, participants shared their field-level experiences and challenges. Officials provided instant solutions and practical advice to address various farming-related problems.
Speakers at the workshop emphasized that such training programs play a vital role in increasing fish production and strengthening the rural economy.
At the end of the program, certificates were distributed among the participating trainees.
The organizing body, BRAC Fisheries Enterprise, stated that similar advanced training initiatives will gradually be expanded to other regions of the country to protect fisheries resources and help farmers become self-reliant.
