Apollo Hospitals Chennai organizes international CME at Dhaka’s Apollo Clinic

Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, in association with Apollo Clinic Dhanmondi, Dhaka (Licensee: JMI Specialized Hospital Limited) organized an international Continuing Medical Education (CME) program recently (on Monday evening). Around 350 Bangladeshi Medical Students, Post Graduate residents & Consultants attended the event, engaging in knowledge exchange with leading international experts across specialized surgical fields, a press release said.

The program was held at the premises of Apollo Clinic, Dhanmondi, and featured four dedicated sessions covering: “Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (MICS) and Robotic Cardiac Surgery: Small Incisions, Big Impact”; “Living Donor Liver Transplantation (LDLT) in India: Innovations, Ethics and Outcomes”; “Urethral Stricture Decision-Making in the Real World”; and “Awake Craniotomy”.

The keynote addresses were delivered by distinguished specialists from Apollo Hospitals, Chennai — Dr. Md. Rehan Sayeed (Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery), Dr. Elankumaran K (Liver Transplant, Hepatobiliary & Robotic Surgery), Dr. Sandeep Bafna (Urology & Robotic Surgery), and Dr. Siddhartha Ghosh (Neurosciences) each presenting at their respective sessions. The event was chaired by Dr. Tamjeed Alam, CEO of Apollo Clinic, Dhanmondi.

The event was further enriched by an esteemed panel of Bangladeshi medical experts, including Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic and Liver Transplantation Surgery specialists Prof. Dr. Bidhan Chandra Das and Prof. Dr. Hashim Rabbi; Cardiac Surgeons Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman and Dr. Kamrun Nahar; Urologists Prof. Dr. Md. Nasir Uddin and Prof. Dr. N. I. Bhuiyan; and Neuroscience experts Prof. Dr. Md. Fazle Elahi Milad and Prof. Dr. Md. Khairul Kabir.

The CME underscored the growing collaboration between Bangladesh’s leading hospital brand, JMI Specialized Hospital Ltd and the renowned South Asian healthcare provider, Apollo Hospitals, which operates over 76 hospitals and more than 700 clinics across multiple countries in advancing the country’s healthcare sector.

The facility’s primary mission is to provide reliable and trustworthy healthcare services to Bangladeshi patients without them having to travel abroad; and eventually to attract medical tourism into Bangladesh. Key achievements of Apollo Clinic, Dhanmondi were highlighted at the event, including the successful management of over 13,000 outpatient (OPD) cases, 1,200 inpatient (IPD) cases, and more than 750 surgical procedures, with less than one percent surgical site infection rate.
