DHAKA : The curtain of the National Gold Cup Football Tournament, Boys and Girls (Under-17) National Tournament was raised, Monday, June 16, 2025.the competition was inaugurated by the Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam, at the Mohammadpur Government Physical Education College ground, according to a press release.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Md. Iqbal Hossain, Director of the Sports Directorate, Md. Mustafa Zaman, were also present at the event. This national tournament has started with talented Under-17 boys and girls from 8 divisions of the country at the initiative of the Sports Directorate, Ministry of Youth and Sports. In the opening match, the Khulna Division boys team defeated Barisal Division 1-0 in the boys' division to secure a place in the semi-finals. Al Kafi of Khulna Division scored the winning goal in the second minute of the match. This tournament started in June 2024 with the Upazila Games. In which about 1,10,264 players from the country participated. Then, the district and divisional level competitions with talented players ended in February this year. The final of the tournament will be held at the open national stadium on June 19. 40 talented boys and 40 girls will be selected from this national tournament. These footballers will later make it to the national and international levels.
