EBL holds discussions with visiting French delegation to attract FDI

DHAKA : Eastern Bank PLC. (EBL) hosted a high-level delegation from the Regional Economic Department for India and South Asia, operating under the French Embassy in India. The visit marks a continued commitment to fostering stronger economic and financial cooperation between France and Bangladesh, according to a press release.

The delegation was led by David Karmouni, South Asia Regional Financial Advisor and Deputy Head of the Regional Economic Department, France Embassy in India, who also represents Banque de France in the region. He was accompanied by Elea Pons, Regional Financial Deputy Advisor, from the same department and M Yann Riegel, Deputy Head of Economic Department in Dhaka, Embassy of France.  During the meeting, the delegation held comprehensive discussions with senior officials of EBL on Bangladesh’s evolving banking landscape, investment climate, and ongoing reforms in the financial sector. The conversations focused on exploring avenues for deeper bilateral collaboration and knowledge-sharing in areas such as sustainable finance, trade facilitation, and financial innovation.

Representing Eastern Bank at the meeting were Ahmed Shaheen, Additional Managing Director; Riad Mahmud Chowdhury, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Corporate Banking; Mehdi Zaman, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Treasury, Financial Institutions and Offshore Banking; and Ziaul Karim, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Communications and External Affairs among others.
