DHAKA : The Russian state corporation Rosatom is preparing to send the domestic electric car Atom on a polar expedition aboard the nuclear icebreaker 50 Let Pobedy ("50 Years of Victory"). The vessel departure from the port of Murmansk is scheduled for the end of June, according to s press release.
The Atom on the Icebreaker" initiative is a joint project by Atomflot, the Fuel Division of Rosatom — which established a business unit for Electric Mobility — and the company Kama, the developer and manufacturer of the Russian electric car Atom. Passengers on the voyage will be presented with a pre-production prototype of the Atom electric car and shown its technical specifications. One of the planned activities includes lowering the car onto the ice to test its performance in extreme Arctic conditions. “Harsh climatic conditions have long been considered critical for electric vehicles., we confidently head to the Arctic to show that such limitations no longer exist. Russian electric vehicle technologies are expanding beyond urban environments and are proving ready for operation in any climate zone — regardless of season, region, or temperature. If the car performs reliably in the most extreme conditions, it can surely handle any everyday scenario,” said Alexander Bukhvalov, Director of the "Electric Mobility" business unit under Rosatom.
Atom is the first electric car being developed by a team of Russian engineers specifically for Russia. Electric Mobility is a new and promising business direction for Rosatom.
