Diploma engineering student teachers and professionals will submit a memorandum to the chief advisor through the district administrator in each district on August 25 to implement the 7-point demands of the Bangladesh Diploma Engineering Student Teachers and Professionals Sangram Parishad. Instructions have already been given from the center to each district branch for the successful implementation of this program, a press release said.
The 7-point demands for which 8 lakh diploma engineers and more than 4 lakh students of the country are protesting are: to reserve the posts of sub-assistant engineer/equivalent only for diploma engineers in light of the existing notification, to increase the promotion rate from sub-assistant engineer to assistant engineer to 50%, to modernize the curriculum of the Diploma in Engineering curriculum in the English version according to the needs of the era, to eliminate the shortage of teachers by considering the teacher-student ratio of 1:12 in all polytechnic and monotechnic institutes, TSC, to divide the engineering workplace into field and desk engineering to improve the quality of engineering work and to promote research activities, to prohibit the entry of B.Sc engineers into cadres other than engineering cadres to prevent wastage of talent, to formulate a manpower structure of all engineering organizations in a ratio of 1:5 according to the international engineering team concept, and to provide higher education to diploma engineering certificate holders in all engineering and technology universities and engineering colleges through credit transfer.
