Diploma engineer leaders said that the government’s 1978 notification ensured a 33% promotion to the unified title of Deputy Assistant Engineer and Assistant Engineer for diploma engineering certificate holders. In addition, in a separate government notification of 1994, the post of Deputy Assistant Engineer was upgraded to the second class and graded 10. Similarly, the issue of using the engineer title is clear in the Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC)-2020. However, students and degree engineers of various engineering and technology universities are misleading the nation by creating new controversies on these resolved issues. In the name of movement, they are using indecent language against diploma engineers through creating public suffering and mob terrorism, which has no basis. The leaders warned that the conspiratorial movement of degree engineers and B.Sc. engineering students to cancel the issues resolved by the state for diploma engineers will not be tolerated in any way.
Diploma Engineer leaders said that after the July Revolution, when the government announced the construction of a non-discriminatory Bangladesh and the 13th National Parliament election, at that very moment, a vested interest group has taken the strategy of heating up the engineering workplace and academic field with the aim of destabilizing the country and derailing the election. Diploma Engineer leaders called on the government to look into the matter in depth. These things were said at a joint meeting of the Central Sangram Parishad, IDEB District Branch President and General Secretary and District Branch Leaders of Sangram Parishad organized by the Bangladesh Diploma Engineering Students, Teachers, Professionals Sangram Parishad at IDEB Bhaban in Kakrail, Dhaka on Friday, September 5, 2025. The leaders announced to respond to all conspiracies by building a stricter movement on the 7-point demands of the Sangram Parishad. The meeting decided to hold non-violent departmental rallies in all departments from September 16 to 25 and a grand rally in Dhaka on September 27, a press release said.
The meeting, chaired by the convener of the Central Sangram Parishad, Prof. Md. Akheruzzaman, with the participation of 71 organizational district leaders, was addressed as the chief guest by the convener of the IDEB Interim Central Committee, Prof. Md. Kabir Hossain. The meeting, moderated by the member secretary of the Sangram Parishad, Prof. Md. Imam Uddin, was addressed by Prof. Md. Mominul Islam, Prof. Md. Anisuzzaman, Prof. Mahfuzul Alam Mithu, Prof. Awal Hossain, Prof. Fajr Ali Liton, Prof. Ahsan Habib, Prof. Karim Uddin, Prof. Selimul Azad, Prof. Md. Selim Uddin, Prof. Md.
