Banglalink, the country’s innovative digital operator, has partnered with Prokriti O Jibon Foundation to support “Sobuje Sajai Bangladesh,” a month-long nationwide tree plantation and sapling distribution campaign across 57 districts, a press release said.
Aligned with Banglalink’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) agenda, the initiative seeks to raise environmental awareness and encourage community participation in greening efforts. By mobilizing youth, educational institutions, and local communities, the campaign contributes to building a healthier ecosystem and a more sustainable future for Bangladesh.
To date, trees have been planted in 45 districts, including a major plantation drive in Uttara, with over 62,400 saplings planted and distributed nationwide. The campaign has drawn strong participation from Banglalink’s regional teams, employees, students, and local communities, underscoring the collective spirit behind the initiative. The program will conclude on 15 September 2025, after covering the remaining districts.
Jahrat Adib Chowdhury, Deputy CEO of Banglalink, said, “At Banglalink, we view environmental responsibility as a vital part of our ESG strategy. Supporting tree plantation drives goes beyond planting saplings—it means uniting communities, raising awareness, and securing a sustainable future for the next generation. We are proud to stand with local communities in building a greener Bangladesh, where innovation and responsibility work together to protect our planet. Through initiatives like this, Banglalink reaffirms its long-term commitment to both the environment and society.”
Abdul Muqeed Majumdar Babu, Chairman, Prokriti O Jibon Foundation, said, “Supporting tree plantation drives goes far beyond planting saplings. It is about nurturing awareness, inspiring our youth, and cultivating a culture of responsibility for a greener tomorrow. By encouraging the younger generation to take ownership of protecting nature, we are laying the foundation for a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Bangladesh. Together, we can grow not just trees, but hope for generations to come.”
In Uttara, around 100 Banglalink employees from the headquarters joined hands with students of Sholohati Government Primary High School to distribute and plant trees in collaboration with Prokriti O Jibon Foundation and Dhaka North City Corporation. The initiative created a festive atmosphere, where employees and students celebrated their collective commitment to the environment while contributing to a greener future.
Mohammad Abul Kashem, Superintending Engineer, Environment, Climate and Disaster Management Circle, Dhaka North City Corporation; Shahina Jinnatul Ferdous, Head Teacher, Sholohati Government Primary High School; Dr. Munshi Shajahan, Advisor, Prokriti O Jibon Club, Dhaka District; and Md.
