Educator, author Hajera Nazrul passes at 84

Noted fiction writer and educationist Professor Hajera Nazrul passed away due to old-age complications on September 8, 2025 (Inna Lillahiwa Inna IlayhiRaji’un). She was born on November 20, 1941,  a press release said.

Professor Hajera Nazrul served as Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs of the Government of Bangladesh and as Principal of Begum Badrunnesa Government Women’s College. Alongside her distinguished career in education and administration, she also earned recognition as a fiction writer.

In her personal life, she was the wife of Engineer Nazrul Islam.

She was actively involved with various socio-cultural organizations including Lions Clubs International, Rajnigandha Lions Club, and the Community Health Research Association.

Family, colleagues, and well-wishers have expressed deep sorrow at her passing and prayed for the salvation of her departed soul.
