DHAKA : North South University (NSU) and Grameen HealthTech Ltd. (GHL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 24 May 2026 (Sunday) to provide round-the-clock tele-mental health services for NSU students, faculty members, and staff, a press release said.
Representing NSU at the ceremony were Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor; Professor Dipak Kumar Mitra, Dean of the School of Health and Life Sciences; Professor Shazzad Hossain, Dean of the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences; Dr. Norman Swazo, Director of Research; Professor Dr. Sharif Nurul Ahkam, Director of the Center for Social Impact and Sustainability (CSIS); Professor Dr. Abdul Khaleque, Proctor; Dr. Ahmed Tazmeen, Registrar; Ahmed Iqbal Parvez, Director of Legal Affairs; Shabnin Rahman Shorna, Senior Lecturer and Coordinator, CSIS; and Md. Shaphawat Hossain, Assistant Director of the Counseling & Wellbeing Center.
The GHL delegation included Dr. Ahmed Armaan Siddiqui, Chief Executive Officer; Mohammad Solaimun Rasel, Chief Technology Officer & Chief Business Officer; Barrister Ahmed Raquib Malik, Chief Compliance & People Officer; Dr. Fahreen Hannan, International Business Lead; and Ahmed Sabbir, Key Account Manager.
During the ceremony, Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury and Dr. Ahmed Armaan Siddiqui delivered remarks highlighting the growing importance of mental healthcare within academic institutions. They emphasized the need to address the stigma and limited accessibility surrounding mental health services in Bangladesh. Through this partnership, uninterrupted and accessible tele-mental health support will be made available to the NSU community.
The speakers further noted that initiatives of this nature can contribute significantly to national Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to health, well-being, and social stability. They also underscored the role of digital innovation in strengthening mental healthcare delivery systems and reducing the existing treatment gap in Bangladesh.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment between NSU and GHL to advancing technology-driven mental health solutions and fostering a more supportive and inclusive academic environment.
