BGMEA signs health deal with 10 hospitals for members

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has taken an important step to encourage its members, officers and employees and their families to avail advanced healthcare and diagnostic facilities in the country instead of going abroad for medical treatment. With this aim, BGMEA signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a total of 10 leading healthcare institutions, including 9 reputed hospitals and 1 diagnostic center, a press release said.

As a result of the signing of this MoU, BGMEA members, officers and employees and their dependent family members will now be able to avail advanced medical and diagnostic services from these institutions at special discounted rates.

The signing ceremony of the MoU was held at the BGMEA Complex in Uttara under the chairmanship of BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan and was attended by 1st Vice President Selim Rahman, Senior Vice President Enamul Haque Khan, Vice President Md. Rezwan Selim, Vice President (Finance) Mizanur Rahman, Director Shah Raed Chowdhury, Director Faisal Samad, Director Md. Hasib Uddin, Director Nafis-ud-Daulah, Director Enamul Aziz Chowdhury and representatives of the mentioned institutions. The event was supervised by BGMEA Director Shah Raed Chowdhury.

The institutions that signed the MoU are Bangladesh Eye Hospital and Institute Limited, Dhaka Central International Medical College and Hospital, LabAid Group Limited, LabAid Cancer Hospital and Super Specialty Center, LifePlus Bangladesh Limited Digital Healthcare Platform, Popular Diagnostic Center Limited, Prabha Health Bangladesh Limited, Shamrita Hospital Limited, United Hospital Limited and United Healthcare Services Limited.

On behalf of BGMEA, President Mahmud Hasan Khan signed the MoUs.

On behalf of the institutions, Bangladesh Eye Hospital and Institute Limited Chairman Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Chowdhury; Dhaka Central International Medical College and Hospital Head of Marketing Hadiul Karim Khan; The MoU was signed by Sharif Mohammad Abid, Chief Executive Officer of LabAid Group, LabAid Cancer Hospital and Super Specialty Center and LifePlus Bangladesh Limited, on behalf of the three organizations – LabAid Group, LabAid Cancer Hospital and Super Specialty Center and LifePlus Bangladesh Limited; Achintya Kumar Nag, Deputy General Manager and Head, Human Resources and Administration Department of Popular Diagnostic Center Limited; Mohammad Abdul Matin Emon, CEO of Praava Health Bangladesh Limited; Dr. Saifuddin Ahmed Sajib, Consultant and CEO of Shamrita Hospital Limited; Malik Talha Ismail Bari, Managing Director and CEO of United Hospital Limited; and Mohammad Faizur Rahman, CEO of United Healthcare Services Limited.

At the event, BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan announced that BGMEA has taken the initiative to establish a hospital in the Gazipur/Ashulia region to provide affordable medical services to the garment workers. He said that the country’s leading hospitals and diagnostic institutions will be under its management. As an initial step of this initiative, a memorandum of understanding was signed with these healthcare institutions.

BGMEA Director Shah Raeed Chowdhury delivered the welcome speech. He said that this important step will ensure a comfortable future for the entrepreneurs of the garment sector.

BGMEA Director Faisal Samad called on the hospitals that signed the memorandum of understanding to open a special ‘help desk’ in the hospitals to make the service process easier for BGMEA members.

The signatory institutions said that they are happy and proud to stand by the country’s garment sector. They called on BGMEA leaders to invest in the health sector of the country to make it more prosperous.
