North South University’s (NSU) Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, in collaboration with the North South University Pharmaceutical Club (NSUPC), hosts the highly anticipated “Joya Sanitary Napkin presents Pharma Fest 2025”, a two-day event celebrating academic excellence, professional collaboration, and the vibrant spirit of pharmacy students and industry leaders, a press release said.
The fest began on November 5, 2025, with an exclusive Industrial Advisory Board and Leader’s Meetup, followed by a lively Alumni Night that brought together former and current students in an evening of reflection and reconnection. Throughout the day, enthusiastic students from all over Bangladesh participated in national-level debates, Olympiads, poster presentations, and stall exhibitions.
The Opening Ceremony, held on 6th November, commenced with a welcome address from the host, followed by an inspiring speech by Dr Mohammad Hossain Shariare, Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at NSU. Esteemed guests, including Prof. Dr. Dipak Kumar Mitra, Dean, School of Health and Life Sciences, NSU; Prof. Abdur Rob Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor (In-Charge) & Treasurer, NSU; and Sayef Nasir, Managing Director, SMC Enterprise Limited, shared valuable insights on the evolving landscape of pharmaceutical education and industry collaboration.
A highlight of the morning session was the presence of Sayef Nasir, Managing Director of SMC Enterprise Limited, whose insightful remarks on leadership, innovation, and women’s health in Bangladesh inspired both students and professionals alike. His participation underscored the critical role of corporate vision in driving the nation’s healthcare and pharmaceutical progress.
The Opening Ceremony also featured Syed S. Kaiser Kabir, CEO & Managing Director of Renata PLC, who delivered a motivating address emphasising innovation, ethics, and entrepreneurship in the pharmaceutical industry. The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks from Faculty Advisor Adit Muktadir Pavel, followed by the inauguration of the official magazine and pharma exhibition.
Throughout the day, the Pharma Exhibition 2025 drew immense appreciation, showcasing the research, innovation, and creativity of the students in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The exhibition provided a unique platform for academic and industrial integration, reflecting NSU’s continued commitment to practical and research-oriented learning.
The Closing Ceremony, held later in the day, featured thought-provoking speeches from prominent guests including Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hossain Shariare, Chairman, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, NSU; Prof. Dr. Dipak Kumar Mitra, Dean, School of Health and Life Sciences, NSU; Prof. Abdur Rob Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor (In-Charge) & Treasurer, NSU; Benajir Ahmed, Member, Board of Trustees, NSU; Aziz Al Kaiser (Tito), Chairman, Board of Trustees, NSU; Ms. Zareen Karim, Managing Director, Orion Pharma Ltd.; and Md. Nasser Shahrear Zahedee, Chairman, Radiant Pharmaceuticals Limited, who graced the event as the Chief Guest. The session was chaired by Prof. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of NSU, who highlighted the importance of academia-industry synergy for future pharmacists.
The evening concluded with a Prize Giving Ceremony recognising outstanding participants, followed by a mesmerising Cultural Program, marking a fitting end to two days of learning, networking, and celebration.
Pharma Fest 2025 once again reaffirmed NSU’s commitment to nurturing future leaders in pharmaceutical sciences while strengthening bridges between academia, industry, and innovation.
