Book on China-Bangladesh relations launched at NSU

On the afternoon of November 6, 2025, the Book Launch Ceremony for “China in the Eyes of Bangladesh’s New Generation” was held at North South University. The event was organised by North South University and co-organised by the Bangladesh-China Research Centre at North South University.

Li Shaopeng, Cultural Counsellor of Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, Prof. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of North South University, Mahbub Morshed, Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, representatives of the authors of “China in the Eyes of Bangladesh’s New Generation”; and more than 200 faculties and students from North South University attended the ceremony. Twenty-two authors contributed to the book, which comprises 19 chapters. The authors highlight the achievements of cooperation between China and Bangladesh in various fields over the past 50 years.

Ms. Ma Xiaoyan, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at North South University, warmly welcomed the guests. She stated that the book will open a window for people in Bangladesh to gain a deeper understanding of China. It is a cultural tribute to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Professor Bulbul Siddiqi, Local Director of the Confucius Institute at North South University, introduced the book’s writing process. He stated that the book covers the history of the friendly relations between China and Bangladesh, as well as cooperation between the two countries, which will deepen their relationship.

Mahbub Morshed, Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, looked back on history and reflected on the present. He proposed taking the initiative to write more about China and its development, and describe it to the readers of Bangladesh. Li Shaopeng, Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, said that this book is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand China, and a great guide for Bangladesh-China cooperation. He hopes that more Bangladeshi youth will learn Chinese, explore Chinese culture, travel to China, make friends, and utilise their skills to contribute to the development of the Digital and Green Silk Roads.

Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of North South University, highly praised the new book, stating that the friendly relations between China and Bangladesh will usher in a new chapter. North South University actively promotes China-Bangladesh people-to-people exchanges and educational cooperation, consistently supporting the Bangladesh-China Research Centre at North South University and the Confucius Institute at North South University.

Two of the authors, Professor Md Shahabul Haque of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology and Associate Professor Farhana Ferdousi of Southeast University, also shared their thoughts. Finally, all distinguished guests unveiled the new book together. The red curtain slowly fell, marking the successful launch of “China in the Eyes of Bangladesh’s New Generation.”
