The 55th founding anniversary of the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) and Public Engineering Day-2025 are going to be celebrated through a week-long colorful program under the theme ‘Skilled Manpower – The Main Basis of Nation Building’. This information was given by the convener of the organization, Engineer Md. Kabir Hossain, at a crowded press conference at IDEB Bhaban in Kakrail, the capital (November 6), a press release said.
It was informed at the press conference that Adilur Rahman Khan, Advisor to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, will inaugurate the pre-rally discussion and colorful rally at IDEB Bhaban on November 9 at 10 am and a seminar titled ‘Skilled Manpower – The Main Basis of Nation Building’ will be held at IDEB Bhaban on November 10 at 4 pm with the participation of top leaders of political parties. Among other programs, prayers will be held in memory of the late leaders and member engineers at IDEB Bhaban in Kakrail, Dhaka on November 8 at 4 pm, a special lecture program will be broadcast on BTV and Bangladesh Betar in the evening with the participation of leaders in the context of the day, and a family gathering and cultural program will be held on November 11 in the afternoon. Similar programs will also be held at the district level. In addition, free technology consulting services will be provided nationwide from November 8 to 14.
Pointing out the relevance of setting the theme for Public Engineering Day, IDEB said – In the context of the 4th Industrial Revolution, technology is rapidly changing the work landscape, the demand for skilled manpower has never been so high. Automation, artificial intelligence, robotics and digital manufacturing are redefining industries. To remain competitive, Bangladesh needs to invest in technical education, skill development and continuous professional training. IDEB leaders said that the real wealth of a country depends not only on its natural resources but also on the skills, creativity and dedication of its people. Bangladesh has a unique advantage with its vibrant and young population. To utilize this advantage, demographic strength alone is not enough, for this, the population must be transformed into a skilled and innovative workforce. The leaders expressed the hope that this year’s theme of Public Engineering Day will give the country’s policymakers a reason to think about this.
The keynote address was delivered by Central Convener Engineer Md. Kabir Hossain. Member Secretary Engineer Kazi Sakhawat Hossain answered various questions from journalists. Among others, Prof. Golam Mohammad, Prof. Mirza Mizanur Rahman, Prof. Ershad Ullah, Prof. Nowsher Ahmed Tamanna, Prof. Golam Kibria, Prof. Moniruzzaman, Prof. Mostafa Kamal, Prof. Shahabuddin Sabu and others were present at the press conference.
