Advisor to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Adilur Rahman Khan said that the main resource of Bangladesh is the young population. In order to build a sustainable development and inclusive Bangladesh, youth power must be transformed into human resources. To transform challenges into opportunities through skills and innovation, the youth must be trained and educated, a press release said.
Stating that there is a need for principles and honesty along with efficiency for the sustainable development and professionalism of the country, the chief guest said that if the integrity and patriotism of the skilled population is lacking, the development plan will not be sustainable. Engineers should not just do the prescribed work, they should focus on research and innovation to meet the current and future challenges. He called on IDEB to work on this issue. Terming the theme of the foundation day as ‘Efficient Manpower – The Foundation of Nation Building’ as very timely, the advisor advised the diploma engineers to work towards implementing the main spirit of the theme.
The advisor said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of IDEB’s 55th foundation anniversary and Public Engineering Day at IDEB Bhaban in Kakrail, the capital, on November 9 morning, under the chairmanship of the organization’s central convener Engineer Md. Kabir Hossain. Central Member Secretary Engineer Kazi Sakhawat Hossain delivered the welcome speech at the ceremony.
After the discussion, the advisor inaugurated the colorful rally of Public Engineering Day by releasing pigeons and balloons in the IDEB Bhaban premises. Later, the colorful rally of Public Engineering Day started from IDEB Bhaban under the leadership of the chief guest, central convener and member secretary. The rally passed through Kakrail Mosque-Matsya Bhavan-National Press Club-Paltan Intersection-Bijaynagar-Kakrail Intersection and ended at IDEB Bhavan.
