Two additional political parties have joined the Jamaat-e-Islami–led eight-party alliance, expanding the coalition further. The newly added parties are the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), headed by retired Colonel Oli Ahmed, and the National Citizens Party (NCP).
The announcement was made at a press briefing held at the National Press Club on Sunday (December 28) at 5:00 pm.
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman formally disclosed the names of the two new alliance partners during the press conference.
With the inclusion of the NCP and LDP, along with the AB Party, the alliance is now moving forward as a broader Jamaat-led political front.
Prior to the latest expansion, the alliance comprised Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Bangladesh Khilafat Andolan, Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis, Khilafat Majlis, Nejame Islam Party, Jatiya Ganatantrik Party, and Bangladesh Development Party.
The development comes amid ongoing political negotiations and last-minute discussions over seat-sharing arrangements, with alliance leaders indicating that a broader consensus is expected to be announced soon.
