It is difficult to develop a sustainable innovation culture in the country if appropriate technology is not used at the right time. Therefore, business leaders have urged to change policies with the speed of technology change. And academics believe that the association can build a bridge by coordinating between industry and academia. At the same time, the speakers urged to re-introduce internships under the Bangladesh Computer Council for those studying in the fourth year of primary universities, and to practice ISO standards from the inception to the industrial level to maintain global standards, a press release said.
These suggestions came up at a seminar on what Bangladesh can do to create an innovation ecosystem held at the Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Center in the capital on Wednesday afternoon, January 28.
A panel discussion titled ‘Bridging Gaps in the Innovation Ecosystem: What Bangladesh Needs to Do’ was held at Windy Town Hall on the afternoon of the first day of the Digital Device and Innovation Expo 2026.
The panel discussion moderated by the Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Md. Anwar Hossain, was attended by Director General of the Directorate of ICT, Md. Abu Sayeed, Professor of BUET, Dr. ABM Alim Al Islam, Finance Secretary of BAKCO, Md. Aminul Haque, Director General (Additional Responsibilities) of the National Cyber Security Agency (NCA), Dr. Md. Taibur Rahman, Director General (Additional Responsibilities) of the National Cyber Security Agency (NCA), Md. Abdur Rafiq, Project Director of A2i, Md. Abdur Rafiq, Project Director of Idea, Murtuza Julkar Nain Noman, and Senior Member of Bangladesh Computer Samity, Atiq E Rabbani.
It was informed in the seminar that a lot of work has been done by the government for digital transformation. Now, coordination between these works is needed. For that purpose, the interim government has prepared the Personal Data Protection Ordinance, the National Data Governance Agency Ordinance, and the National Cyber Security Ordinance on the use of AI in a short period of time, giving utmost importance to inclusive digital development. Now everyone has to work together to deliver the desired services to the citizens.
The entire fair premises will be covered by a Wi-Fi network through satellite internet technology, which will allow visitors to directly use this cutting-edge internet technology.
