NSU celebrates Boshonto Utshob and Pitha Festival 1432

North South University (NSU) celebrated the ‘Boshonto Utshob and Pitha Festival 1432’ with music, poetry recitations, vibrant dance performances, and a wide array of traditional delicacies. The event was jointly organized by the North South University Social Services Club and the North South University Sangskritik Sangathan (NSUSS), a press release said.

The university campus in Bashundhara was adorned with colorful festoons, flyers, and banners handmade by students. Thousands of students, dressed in vibrant red and yellow attire and carrying flowers, welcomed spring with enthusiasm.

The event was attended by Aziz Al Kaiser, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, NSU; Benajir Ahmed, Founder Life Member and Former Chairman of the Board of Trustees, NSU; Duluma Ahmed, Member of the Board of Trustees, NSU; Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of NSU; Professor Nasar Uddin Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor of NSU; and Professor Abdur Rob Khan, Treasurer of NSU. Also present were deans of various faculties, directors, department heads, faculty members, administrative officials, and students.

Aziz Al Kaiser said, “The arrival of spring at NSU in such a festive atmosphere has brought a message of joy for all of us. Our Bengali culture teaches us to live together in harmony and strengthens the bonds of goodwill and unity. Through this celebration, we exchange greetings and hope that this season will bring new energy and enthusiasm to everyone’s lives.”

Benajir Ahmed said, “Spring represents renewal, culture, and the vibrancy of youth. Just as new leaves grow after the old ones fall, spring brings new hope and possibilities into our lives. Springs inspires positive change, new dreams, and the motivation to move forward.”

Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury said, “NSU not only spreads the light of education, but our students also remain deeply committed to embracing the culture, heritage, and language of Bangladesh. By honoring and nurturing Bengali culture with respect and pride, North South University will continue to move forward beyond all divisions and differences. This is our expectation.”

Professor Nesar Uddin Ahmed said, “Spring teaches us to forget past sorrows and begin anew. With the arrival of this season, let our commitment be to share joy, free from division and conflict. Through the practice of harmony, mutual respect, and human values, we hope to move ahead as a united community.”

NSU’s Plaza area became a hub of cultural vibrancy with traditional dance performances, folk songs, and a “Pitha Festival” showcasing a variety of sweet, sour, and spicy pithas (traditional Bengali cakes). Adding to the excitement, NSUSS students performed an energetic flash mob.
