DHAKA : Faisal Karim Masud and Alamgir Hossain, two main accused in the Shaheed Sharif Osman bin Hadi murder case, were detained in West Bengal, India today.
On information from defense intelligence, accused shooter Faisal and associate Alamgir were detained from Bangaon area of the West Bengal, according to multiple sources.
It was learned that Faisal and Alamgir were staying in different places after entering India following the killing of Hadi. And they were trying to take shelter in the border area of Bangaon with an aim to return to Bangladesh.
On information, an operation was conducted at early hours on March 8 and the duo were detained.
After shooting political activist and Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Osman Hadi in Dhaka on December 12 last year, they illegally entered Indian territories through the Meghalaya border and visited various places in India and finally came to Bangaon in West Bengal to return to Bangladesh.
A case was registered in this regard in the West Bengal. They were produced before the concerned court today and are currently under police custody.
Further investigation is underway, said the sources.
