NSU hosts immunization awareness session for World Immunization Week 2026

North South University’s (NSU) Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized an awareness session titled “Immunization for All” on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in observance of World Immunization Week 2026, aiming to raise awareness about the critical role of vaccines in protecting public health and preventing serious diseases, a press release said.

The program was held at Audi 801, North South University, bringing together students, faculty members, and university authorities to promote the importance of immunization in building a healthier and safer community.

The awareness session featured Prof. Md. Nazrul Islam, Department of Rheumatology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU)  as the keynote speaker. A distinguished academic and public health expert, Prof. Md. Nazrul Islam, shared valuable insights on the impact of vaccines, the importance of immunization programs, and the collective responsibility of communities in ensuring access to vaccination for all. The event was also graced by the presence of the Assistant General Manager of Synovia Pharmaceuticals, Lucky Singha.

This initiative was organized by the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of North South University, in collaboration with partnering organizations committed to promoting healthcare awareness and community well-being. The event was sponsored by Synovia, reflecting the organization’s commitment to advancing health awareness and supporting public health initiatives.

The event was graced by Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor, NSU; Professor Nasar U. Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor, NSU; and Professor Abdur Rob Khan, Treasurer, NSU. Also present were the Dean of the School of Health and Life Sciences, Professor Dr. Dipak Kumar Mitra, and the Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. Mohammad Hossain Shariare.

The session was designed to educate and inspire participants about the benefits of immunization, dispel common misconceptions regarding vaccines, and encourage active participation in immunization efforts. Through this awareness program, North South University contributed to the global campaign for equitable vaccine access and reinforced the importance of immunization as a cornerstone of public health.

This event highlighted the university’s continued dedication to promoting health education, fostering social responsibility, and supporting global public health initiatives through awareness and community engagement.
