2 drug dealers arrested with 4 kg of marijuana in Gomostapur

Two drug dealers were arrested with four kg of marijuana in a drive by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-5) in Gomostapur, Chapainawabganj. They were arrested from the bamboo thicket area next to a sawmill in Gomostapur Bazar on Tuesday (April 28) afternoon.
The arrested are Md. Zakir Hossain (32), son of Md. Ilias Ali of Bishwanathpur Ghontola village in Binodpur union of Shibganj upazila, and Md. Shahidul Islam (25), son of Md. Lutu Ali of Bishwanathpur Munsitola village in the same union.

RAB said that an expeditionary team of RAB-5, CPC-1 Chapainawabganj camp was conducting regular patrols and anti-drug operations on Tuesday. At around 1:45 pm, based on secret information, they came to know that some people were staying under the bamboo bushes on the southwest side of Asaduzzaman’s sawmill in Gomostapur Bazar for the purpose of buying and selling drugs.
​To verify the truth of the news, the RAB team conducted a surprise raid there at around 2:10 pm and arrested Zakir and Shahidul. Later, according to their confession, 4 kg of marijuana wrapped in polythene was recovered from the school bag of accused No. 1 Zakir Hossain. The recovered drugs were included in the seizure list at 2:40 pm.

RAB-5 further said that this pioneering role of RAB in curbing crime and regular raids will continue. A case has been filed against the arrested accused under the Narcotics Control Act and they have been handed over to the concerned Gomostapur Police Station along with the recovered evidence.
